Description
Whether you’re locking in a tight groove or driving a rock mix forward, the Nidhogg 5 string is a stage‑ready bass guitar with powerful tone, premium hardware, and a rebellious style that stands out everywhere.
Designed for rock, punk, and grunge but versatile enough for pop and indie, it combines raw power with top-notch craftsmanship. The Nidhogg is Baum’s best solid body rock bass guitar, built for players who want punchy, growling tone and effortless playability.
Its light mahogany body and dark roasted maple neck deliver warm resonance, balanced weight, and a smooth playing feel with the 17mm string spacing. The rosewood fretboard adds depth and articulation, perfect for both tight grooves and heavy, driving lines. This makes it perfect for longer session in studios or on stages.
Powered by Baum’s Goldsound PowerJab single‑coil pickups, the Nidhogg cuts through any mix with fast attack, dynamic mids, and deep sustain. Paired with lightweight high-ratio Precision Tuners™ for bass, this instrument offers tuning stability and reliable performance every time.

BAUM QUALITY CONTROL
Every Baum goes through several quality control points. The final step happens in our Danish Custom Shop where each instrument is personally inspected and tested by our guitar tech team of professional musicians. We’re very picky and go over every detail and part.
Our process:
-
Delivery inspection: Each guitar is unpacked, examined, and approved for build quality and finish.
-
Hardware & electronics: Each instrument gets the Baum Premium Set-up. Read more about that.
-
Performance test: Finally, our set-up team play and fine-tune the guitar to ensure it meets Baum’s tone and feel standards.
Nothing leaves our hands until it matches our quality for how it plays, sounds, and looks.
BAUM SETUP
Every Baum is refined by hand in Denmark by our guitar tech setup team of professional musicians. Our guitar techs inspect, adjust, and play test each guitar to bring out the best of each as they know what it takes to be a performer.

The guitar
THE FLAGSHIP 5-STRING
The Nidhogg 5-string is our take on the powerful, growling J-bass sound. Now with the range to go deeper.
Built for bass players who need their bass to fill a room. From rock and punk to grunge and heavy indie (or even a pop gig that needs some attitude), it delivers fast attack, warm mids, and raw energy. The low B is tight, focused, and massive. It handles anything you throw at it without losing its edge.
Powerful, raw, and built rumble every stage.
Designed in Denmark with carefully selected materials, attention to detail, and quality for every player.
Baum pickups
Goldsound® PowerJab 5™
Loaded with Goldsound® PowerJabs™ single-coil pickups, the Nidhogg produces an articulate, dynamic sound with fast attack and powerful mids. It’s the perfect rock bass for players who want their tone to cut through any mix.
The J-styled pickups feature an Alnico V magnet at the core, wound for a solid output that confidently brings out every note you play. Designed with oversized pole pieces, the PowerJabs™ cast a wider magnetic sensing field, giving you a warmer tone with added punch and absolute clarity.
Now available in a 5-string version, this design is built to handle the extended low end effortlessly. The larger pole pieces ensure the Low B stays tight, focused, and massive without ever getting muddy, keeping your foundation solid in any mix.

Questions before you order?
Straight answers about preorders, payment, delivery and the home trial.
When will my guitar ship?
Look at the purchase option above the Add to cart button. In stock guitars leave Aarhus within 1-4 business days. Preorder guitars are built in a limited batch and ship in the month shown, after our team has set up and play-tested every guitar in that batch.
Preorder months are our best estimate. You can follow your batch on the production updates page, and we email you if the date moves.
Do I pay now for a preorder?
Yes. A preorder is paid when you place the order, which reserves your guitar in the batch. If you prefer to spread it out, choose Partial.ly at checkout: a down payment today and the rest in monthly instalments, all paid before the guitar ships. The exact down payment for your currency is shown on this page.
What is in the box?
This bundle ships with the Baum Deluxe Gigbag (sold on its own for €159) and a full setup by hand in Aarhus. During Black Deals '26, selected VEGA guitars also come with the Ellipse studio headphones (worth €399) or a Baum Original Strap. The box under the price shows exactly what is in the bundle for this guitar.
How does the 45 days home trial work?
We call it Try At Home. Play the guitar with your own amp, pedals and songs for 45 days. If it is not the right fit, contact us and we help arrange the return. The full terms are on the Try At Home page.
Are taxes and import duties included?
Yes. The price you see includes VAT and import duties for the countries we ship to, so there are no surprise fees when the courier arrives. Details are on the tax and import page.
Is the guitar set up before it ships?
Always. Every guitar is inspected, set up and play-tested by our team in Aarhus, Denmark. We check the fretwork, adjust the action and intonation, and make sure it feels right before it goes in the gigbag.
What is the difference between In stock, Preorder and B-Stock?
In stock: ready in Aarhus, ships in 1-4 business days.
Preorder: reserved from the next production batch, ships in the month shown.
B-Stock: a guitar with small cosmetic marks, fully set up and play-tested, usually at a lower price.
Every option gets the same setup and the same 45 days home trial.
