Für mich war Klang schon immer mehr als Noten. Ich bin mit dem Bau von Gitarren, der Suche nach dem perfekten Ton und dem Aufnehmen von Musik aufgewachsen. Deshalb wollte ich ellipse™ schaffen – einen Studiokopfhörer, der Klang mit demselben Respekt behandelt, den wir heute unseren Instrumenten entgegenbringen.

Wie wurden sie entwickelt? Der Prozess dauerte Jahre und erforderte eine ganze Reihe von Prototypen, bis alles stimmte.

I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical when I saw the offer for complementary headphones with my most recent purchase of the new 5-string bass. After all, i recently purchased Inner ear monitors; and have a pair of decent headphones for practicing at home.
My first use of them, I thought, “oh, they are nice.” But when I swapped out to the other headphones, played a song, then went back to Baum Ellipse, I was blown away!
The tone and clarity is absolutely amazing.
I practice with a Bluetooth amp that plugs into the bass and mixes the song recording. It is difficult at times to hear the bass in the song but with the new Ellipse Studio headphones, my practice is much easier.
Plus, because of the clarity, I can practice at a much lower volume and save my ears as I “jam for the lamb!”
Such a great pair of headphones. I’ve had so much fun listening back to music on them, and they sound amazing for recording guitars. I predominantly use closed-backs when tracking my semi-hollow and hollow-body guitars, to reduce bleed into the cans and to better judge how the sound actually goes down on the track.
Every pair of closed-back headphones I’ve tried before has sounded either unnatural, pushing the music right into your ears, or somewhat harsh.. But not the Baum Guitars Ellipse. These are different. They just sound right.
My Leaper Tone sings through these cans, and so do all my other guitars as well.
While they’re not my first choice for mixing, they make an excellent secondary reference. More importantly, they are amazing for getting really inspired while recording and laying down parts with joy and enthusiasm. They’re not as analytical as my preferred mixing headphones, but that’s where the fun comes in and what makes them so hard to beat.
I bought my Ellipse headphones because I was looking for good headphones not only for recording but also for mixing. I'm genuinely impressed. The bass, mids, and highs are well-balanced, and the materials are of very good quality. Furthermore, the dual side connection is a great feature. It's been a very pleasant experience using them, which was expected considering the quality of the Baum instruments. A highly recommended purchase.
Die Kopfhörer stechen schon mal aus der Masse hervor, weil sie wirklich schön anzusehen sind. Die Passform ist sehr angenehm. Ich mag den Umstand, dass man sich entschieden hat, 3,5 mm-Buchsen zu verbauen und nicht irgendwelche markenspezifischen Spezialkomponenten. Super Klang! Ich verwende meine Ellipse zum Üben (Gitarre/Bass) am Computer und bin sehr zufrieden ✅
Den Verstellmechanismus hätte man evtl. etwas innovativer gestalten können (Druckknopf o. ä.) - aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau 😉
I waited a long time for these headphones, but it was so worthwhile. They are the best headphones I’ve ever had! They are so comfortable to wear, I had to finish mixing my track and normally after around an hour I have to stop, but I had these beauties on for over 4 hours and it was like wearing nothing on my head and around my ears. The sound quality is devine! Nice bass frequencies with perfect mids and highs giving perfect clarity. I also tried them on Hi-Fi system with vinyl, CD, tape and minidisc and all sounded better than I could ever have imagined. These headphones are totally brilliant and what’s even better, support for spares are available. You just couldn’t get any better.
Was surprised when Baum announced these, but given my experience with my Wingman I had faith and they don’t disappoint, they’re very well made and feel premium.
They’re super comfortable and most importantly they sound excellent. Perfect for late night jams without annoying the neighbours and help ensure my guitar to sound fantastic!
Great design, very comfy. However, to my ears they are a bit too mid-scooped, for my studio work I prefer flatter.
For casual music listening they are absolutely great, but for that use case I would prefer a Bluetooth option.
I am just geting started in this massive world of digital amps, audio interfaces and recording. One thing I have noticed throughout my research on how to get started is the importance of headphones, since there is no direct sound through the speakers of the amp. A pair of headphones that can replicate that immersive and characteristic sound that amps produce is exactly what I have been looking for. I have looked at other brands in this vast category but, nothing really fits or gives that much wanted sound. When I tried the “Ellipse” at the “Guitar Summit 2025” I immediately felt different. The way the headphones sat on my ears is hard to describe, they encapsulated my ears in a way that didn’t completely shut me off from the rest of the world, but it didn’t need to. As soon as I played the guitar, a Baum strat which I am considering putting on my wish list for Christmas (that’s for another review), I felt it . The sound of the guitar had that character, it was like I was plugged in directly to the guitar. Such a wonderful experience and I hope to encounter more of Baums products in the future.
Extremely comfortable, built very sturdy and a nice sound. What more can you wish for. I don't know why another reviewer said they were quiet. Must be the device he was using. I've listened to music on my mobile phone and only shortly increased the volume to max and it was unbearable loud.

The Ellipse headphones from Baum are hands down some of the best headphones I’ve tried in years. Right away, I loved the fact that they come with a dedicated jack connector—such a small but super useful detail. The earcups are closed and lined with velour, which makes them not only comfortable but also great at shutting out background noise. Ich bin sehr begeistert von diesem Kopfhörer! Ich bin Musiker und brauche einen Kopfhörer, der mir ein stilles Arbeiten ermöglicht, sei es zum Üben oder für Recording - der Ellipse bietet beides und das in einer hervorragenden Qualität! Er sitzt angenehm auf den Ohren und drückt auch nicht am Kopf, selbst wenn ich eine Mütze trage. Er sieht sehr edel aus und ist dennoch robust, das zeugt von großer Fertigungsqualität. Die Funktion ihn mit anderen Kopfhörern über ein 3,5 mm Klinkenkabel zu verbinden, finde ich hervorragend. Er bildet sehr neutral ab und hat dennoch in der räumlichen Abbildung eine klanglich verblüffende Tiefenstaffelung. Er ist nicht ganz billig aber eben auch sehr gut! Ich bin überzeugt!
Was für ein fantastischer Kopfhörer! Er klingt wunderbar transparent und überraschend ausgewogen in allen Frequenzbereichen gerade im Tiefbassbereich ist er klar und differenziert im Klangbild. Die Räumlichkeit ist für einen geschlossenen Kopfhörer erstaunlich. Die Option mehrere Kopfhörer einfach in Reihe zu betreiben finde ich großartig, gerade wenn man unterwegs ist im Tourbus oder im Proberaum. So entsteht ein gemeinsames Musikerlebnis, auch wenn jeder für sich im stillen, die Musik hören kann. Ich bin begeistert.

Full disclosure, I tested the ellipse headphones in a less than ideal environment with all the noise of the Guitar Summit in the background, so take my words with a grain of salt. But it seems that, no matter what they do, Baum can’t help but built incredible gear. I tested the ellipse with the wonderful bass you can see in the picture above and, boy, was it a wonderful combination! The headphones sounded clear, but not harsh. Full, but never whoolly. And on top of that they look just stunning! And even on this massive head of mine they fit like a glove!
Really comfortable, even wearing glasses, which I find to be a rather rare thing. And they sound great, going from blues to some more poppy stuff and hardcore, they delivered great sound. I maybe would have liked a little more low end, but all in all I really liked the sound.
Oh and the daisy chaining really is a great idea.
Wonderful feel, as if I were sitting in my parents' living room, on a soft leather seat, surrounded by soft cushions – very classy! The first impression when listening shows that the entire range is reproduced with fine resolution – crisp bass, not muddy but clear – the trebles are delicate, never too intrusive. A very classy piece!
Haptik, Sound und Design überzeugen komplett. Die Jungs von Baum waren super interessiert an der Meinung der User, was wirklich sehr angenehm war. Der Sound könnte einen kleinen Tick lauter sein im maximum aber dafür sind die Kopfhörer von vorne bis hinten komplett ausbalanciert, bluetooth wäre auch super geil für den Alltag aber sonst Kopfhörer zum in Gedanken versinken!!
I had a go with those headphones and I Must say that the Sound is spectacular. It is very well balanced, crispy highs up to pumping Basses. They are also very well sealed so that they feel like they are noise canceled. 5/5 from me!
Very comfortable headphones. After a while I almost forgot I had them on. My ears get hot quickly when wearing closed back headphones, but I didn't have that problem with the ellipse. And to top it off it sounds good too! Could imagine wearing these for guitar recording at home and having a blast.
I tested this headphone at the Guitar Summit 2025 at the Baum booth and was blown away by the comfort fit, and the sound quality off the bat, even with plenty outside noise in the background the audio was clear, defined and very soothing to the ear. Amazing headphones!
