Why Baum Guitars Is Raising Prices

We want to explain why this change is necessary.

Why prices are going up

2025 has been our most difficult and expensive year in our 10 years of building instruments.
We’ve seen delays in parts, higher material costs, and increased shipping and freight. In spring, new global trade rules added extra tariffs on many of the parts we import.

Every guitar now costs more to build. A simple overview of our supply chain - and have in mind that every time a material or part changes hands, it costs shipping and often import fees/tariffs/taxes.

Even though we're a small brand, we have a rather complex supply chain in order to special and custom make so many parts - from hardware to pickups to knobs, covers and more. Every part is made at special manufacturer before it is shipped to the final place before assembly.

As we're a small brand, we don't buy in bulk or thousands a time. Instead, we custom make each single part for each individual instrument.

Parts: Pickup covers are custom molded to our Goldsound design in China and then shipped to our pickup manufacturer.

Our Goldsound Pickups are then custom-wound and assembled in South Korea.

Our Original Knobs are also custom molded and shipped to either Denmark or Indonesia for future use on the instruments.

The Precision Tuners, Levitator Roller-bridge and TrueTone Tremolo are custom-made by two different manufactures. All use refined brass to perform best.

All custom-parts are then shipped to our manufacturer in Indonesia or our Custom Shop in Denmark.

Woods: Are sourced internationally. From US maple or sitka spruce to East-Indian rosewood, African mahogany and ebony etc. Whether shipped to us direct or our partner in Indonesia, the final instrument is a result of materials sourced from all over the world.

Crafting and assembling: For our non-custom models, these are then crafted, assembled and QC'd in Indonesia.

From here, the instruments are shipped to our small workshop in Denmark.

Workshop in Denmark: We constantly invest in more training and better flow in our quality control and set-up team.

Shipping to you: We still cover import taxes, fees and VAT for most countries worldwide - to make it easier and more simple for you to get your hands on a Baum.

And each and all of these small increases per step add up over time.

You can read more about our 12 steps of production here.

A single set of hardware for this guitar now costs around 30–40% more than it did last year, even before it reaches Denmark. And we pay duties and shipping several times because our parts come from different countries.

As a small global company, we’ve absorbed these rising costs for a long time. But we can’t continue without affecting quality—and quality is the one thing we won’t compromise.

Therefore our models will increase ~ 15% from 01 January 2026.

What we continue to invest in

Even during this tough year, we’ve kept improving our instruments.
This means:

  • Our team in Denmark of musicians and techs who handle our set-up and quality control. Working even closer with our custom shop luthiers to raise the bar.

  • Better set-ups before shipping - we spend more time on each.
  • Stronger quality control - we add extra steps to our quality control.

  • Better hardware

  • Updated pickups and sounds

  • New finishes

These upgrades add value to your guitar and keep the Baum standard high.

Why this change matters

We know price increases are never welcome.
But this step allows us to:

  • Keep building guitars with premium materials

  • Maintain fair working conditions with our partners

  • Develop new models and improve our designs

  • Continue to offer good customer service and support

Looking ahead

We’re a small team, and we’re grateful for every customer who chooses a Baum guitar.
By adjusting our prices, we can stay sustainable, keep our promises, and continue building instruments that last.

Thank you for standing with us and being part of the Baum community.
