11 - Baum Guitar Final Setup and Detailing

11 - Baum Guitar Final Setup and Detailing

Fretwork, intonation, and playability done by musicians for musicians.

This is step 2 of 3 in our Danish workshop, set up by musicians for musicians. In this phase, we ensure the instrument feels and sounds exactly like a Baum should.

Every Baum guitar spends its last days before shipping here in Aarhus, Denmark. This is where we give it the attention that turns it from “a guitar” into your guitar.

Then the real work begins. We string each guitar with D’Addario 10–46s, set a comfortable action, and add a touch of neck relief for smooth playability. Pickups aren’t just set to a measurement—we adjust them by ear until they sound right for that specific guitar.

Every fret gets checked, crowned, and polished. We file nut slots so strings sit perfectly and tune without friction. Then we plug in and play. We bend every string, listen for buzz, and test every switch, knob, and jack. It's a technical check, but it’s also us making sure the guitar feels great in your hands.

Before it goes in the gigbag or case, we run through our QC inspection card, ticking off each step we’ve completed. That card travels with your guitar, so you know exactly what’s been checked before it left our workshop and who did this.

This process takes time, but it’s worth it. When you open your Baum, it’s already dialed in. It arrives ready to tune up, plug in, and play.

We’re picky players ourselves and go to great lengths to ensure each guitar feels just right.
