How it worksThe Leaper Tone™ has been part of our story since 2015. One of the original designs that helped shape Baum, combining our love for vintage guitars, Scandinavian design and instruments that feel as good as they look.
Built around a semi-hollow mahogany body with a maple top, the Leaper Tone brings together warm resonance, an open response and the unmistakable character of a guitar made for rock 'n' roll.
But the Leaper Tone has always been about more than its shape.
Our Goldsound® Rewind '52™ P90 pickups deliver the clarity and dynamics of a vintage single-coil, with the rich midrange and growl that make P90s so distinctive. From warm, articulate cleans to gritty blues and driven rock, the Leaper Tone responds naturally to the way you play.
The Bigsby B70 vibrato adds expressive movement, paired with our custom-developed Baum Levitator™ Roller Bridge to help reduce string friction. Baum Precision™ Tuners with a 21:1 ratio provide fine tuning control.
A dark roasted maple neck, 12" radius rosewood fretboard and signature Crown™ inlays bring together comfort, playability and the familiar details that have become part of our design language.
As part of the Original Series, the Leaper Tone represents our approach to bringing Custom Shop thinking into small-batch production. More specialised components, more complex construction and the freedom to develop the details that make each instrument special.
Every Leaper Tone is designed in Denmark and goes through final inspection, setup and play-testing by our team in Aarhus before shipping.
More than a decade after its introduction, the Leaper Tone remains one of the guitars that defines Baum.
An original since 2015. Still unmistakably Baum.

Every Baum goes through several quality control points. The final step happens in our Danish Custom Shop where each instrument is personally inspected and tested by our guitar tech team of professional musicians. We’re very picky and go over every detail and part.
Our process:
Delivery inspection: Each guitar is unpacked, examined, and approved for build quality and finish.
Hardware & electronics: Each instrument gets the Baum Premium Set-up. Read more about that.
Performance test: Finally, our set-up team play and fine-tune the guitar to ensure it meets Baum’s tone and feel standards.
Nothing leaves our hands until it matches our quality for how it plays, sounds, and looks.
Every Baum is refined by hand in Denmark by our guitar tech setup team of professional musicians. Our guitar techs inspect, adjust, and play test each guitar to bring out the best of each as they know what it takes to be a performer.
Frets & fret ends – crowned and smoothed by hand.
Nut setup – inspected and cut for the optimal height and zero friction.
Truss rod & action – fine-tuned for the best playability.
Pickup height & intonation – dialed in for balanced tones and precise intonation across the neck.
Hardware – tested and tightened for lasting reliability.
Strings – we trust D’addario 10-46. Strings are replaced if needed for a fresh, consistent feel.
Final inspection & polish – every curve checked, every detail cleaned.
Play test – every Baum is played by our luthiers before shipping.
Stage-ready the moment you plug it in.
Our instruments are full of custom-made hardware and parts that we in-house engineer and design in Denmark with tight tolerances and high-quality materials to improve quality, feel and performance in every detail.
We offer easy returns within 45 days from delivery for orders placed online through our web shop.
We know that the best place to test your new instrument is with your gear, music and time. So enjoy 45 days to try it at home and decide if it’s a keeper.

Our Goldsound® Rewind '52™ P90 pickups capture the warmth, clarity and unmistakable character of classic vintage P90s.
Built with Alnico V magnets, they're voiced for a more traditional P90 sound, with rich mids, open highs and a natural, dynamic response that brings out the details in your playing.
Clean, they're warm and articulate, with plenty of character. Push your amp, and they come alive with that familiar P90 growl, bite and natural grit.
From mellow blues and soulful leads to classic rock 'n' roll. Vintage warmth with just the right amount of attitude.
